How to Decorate New Year’s Eve Party

Dollar Tree Haul
Before we jump into the DIYs, I want to share everything I picked up at Dollar Tree. The first items I grabbed were foil balloons. I like to get these every year. For just $1.25 each, they make for the perfect party prop. You can take photos in front of them or hold them up for pictures—they’re great for setting the party mood.Next, I picked up some party horns. These are perfect for a New Year’s Eve party, and they matched the color pattern I wanted: gold, silver, and black. One of my favorite tips is to pick a color pattern and find all the items at Dollar Tree in those colors. It makes everything look cohesive.
I also found large cake topper numbers, which were a new find for me. They are perfect for a New Year’s Eve cake. I have a DIY coming up later in the blog for these numbers.
Additionally, I grabbed plates in my color pattern—gold and black—as well as gold chargers for a mini DIY. I also picked up black napkins, black balloons, and a gold tray. This tray is a top Dollar Tree find: sturdy, beautiful, and versatile for any holiday.
I also got some plastic champagne cups. While you can get glass ones, I needed four for a DIY, and it was more cost-effective to get a pack of six plastic ones. Around this time of year, Dollar Tree often stocks mini glass sparkling juice bottles, which are perfect for a party. They are alcohol-free, and I have a free printable coming up for a customized label for these.
I also grabbed some ornaments for a DIY, using only the white, gold, and silver ones. I found vase filler in the floral area and a bag of white sand for another DIY.
DIY Projects
Foil Balloons
To set the mood, start by blowing up the foil balloons. They come with a straw for easy inflation and are self-sealing. They make for the perfect party backdrop.Gold Tray and Champagne Flutes
For the first DIY, grab the gold tray and plastic champagne flutes. Snap the bottoms onto the flutes and place them on the tray. Fill each flute with sand and add vase filler. Finally, insert the cake topper numbers into the flutes. This simple DIY makes a beautiful centerpiece.Party Horns Display
Lay the party horns on the table as decor or table scatter. For a more elegant display, glue a glass vase and a glass candle holder together using permanent glue like E6000. Place the party horns in the vase for a neat and accessible display.Ornaments Vase
Use the elevated vases from the previous DIY and fill them with ornaments. This quick and easy project adds a festive touch reminiscent of the New Year’s Eve ball drop.Clock Place Setting
Create a clock place setting using a gold charger and a black permanent marker. Mark the positions for 12, 3, 6, and 9, then add lines for the other numbers. Layer a black plastic plate and a smaller gold plate on top. For a fancy touch, accordion-fold a black napkin, cinch it with ribbon, and curl the ribbon ends to create a bow tie napkin.Party Favors
For party favors, use the mini sparkling juice bottles from Dollar Tree. Print the free label from my blog and attach it to the bottle with hot glue or double-sided tape. This makes a thoughtful and budget-friendly gift for your guests.Balloon Clock
Create an extra-large New Year’s Eve clock using balloons. Blow up eight small and four large balloons. Write numbers on the balloons with a gold Sharpie paint pen. Cut out clock hands from scrapbook paper and attach them to a plastic plate. Assemble the balloons in a circle around the plate to form a clock. Use masking tape to keep the balloons in place.Advice and Wishes Jar
Print the free advice and wishes cards from my blog. Provide a jar or bowl for guests to place their filled-out cards. After midnight, read the cards together and guess who wrote each one. This fun activity is a great icebreaker. Conclusion
That’s everything for today’s blog. I hope you enjoyed these DIYs and tips. Wishing everyone a very happy and healthy New Year!
